The 2024 programme will be published in March 2024 and racing will commence in April 2024.

DINGHY RACING PROGRAMME 2024

Dinghy racing takes place at 19:00 on Thursdays and at 11:00 or 15:00 on Sundays, depending on tide times.

Races are grouped into a sequence of monthly series starting in April and running through to the end of September.

All races are conducted on an open handicap basis - our fleet includes a variety of dinghies from Toppers to RS600 and similar.

Visiting sailors are welcome to compete in all races.

Trophies are awarded each month.

An entry fee is payable for each race or series of races.

The races are open to non-members.

Entries must be made at the starting hut on the seafront at least 30 minutes prior to racing.

Sailors' suppers may be available for competitors and helpers in the Coco's Brasserie @ Dale Yacht Club after Thursday evening races.  Pre-ordering will be necessary.

The dinghy racing programme is prepared to provide a height of 2m above chart datum (i.e. 1.5m of water at the inshore buoys) for a period of 1.5 hours after the start.  Occasions when the depth may fall short of this requirements are marked thus *.  Helmsmen with deep-draft dinghies should ensure that they will have sufficient water for their craft.

As a rough guide, the bottom of the slip dries at about 2m above chart datum and the tidal rise in 10 mins for a tide range of 6m is:

1hr after LW - 12cm (5 inches)

2hrs after LW - 22cm (8.5 inches)

3hrs after LW - 25cm (10 inches)
